Technology We Use

Clearly Software specializes in Microsoft technologies, which we use to develop the majority of our solutions. We also utilize other technologies when they are better suited to a project or specifically requested by a client.

We choose Microsoft technologies because they cover most business needs today and provide the best development tools in the industry.

Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365

Microsoft Office is the most widely used business software globally. Many of our solutions are built within Microsoft Office because businesses already use it and prefer to continue doing so. Additionally, smaller solutions developed within Microsoft Office often prove more cost-effective than fully bespoke software.

Excel and Access are our most popular applications for developing solutions, though we can work with most of the Microsoft Office Suite. We also use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to develop macros and add-ins, automating time-consuming processes and enhancing efficiency.

Visual Studio

Visual Studio is the world-leading software development platform from Microsoft, used to develop software, mobile apps, cloud apps, and websites.

We primarily use C# for software development, occasionally using VB.NET if requested. For user interfaces, we use Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), but can also use Windows Forms (WinForms) if needed. For cloud apps, we use ASP.NET, along with CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript. We use .NET MAUI for developing cross-platform apps.

JetBrains Rider

JetBrains Rider is an alternative to Visual Studio that can be used on both Mac and Windows. It is particularly useful for developing iOS or MacOS applications. We can use all the same technologies in Rider as we do in Visual Studio.

SQL Databases

SQL is a powerful database system capable of running databases of all sizes. SQL databases can be hosted locally on a PC/laptop, on a server for network access, or in the cloud. We use SQL for all our non-Access database solutions unless an alternative is specifically requested by the client.

Azure

Azure is Microsoft's cloud computing platform, which we use for all our cloud-based projects. It can host apps and websites, store files, host virtual machines, and databases, and much more.
